I'm a songwriter who's written a few hundred pop, rock and R&B songs, including some you may have heard on the radio... #1 hits like "Crush" by Jennifer Paige and "That's What Love Is For" by Amy Grant... as well as Top 10 hits like "Nothin' At All" by Heart.
I also wrote the theme songs (words & music) for two popular animated Disney TV shows, "DuckTales" (the original and reboot) and "Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers." DuckTales is currently airing in 162 countries worldwide. Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to travel to as many places as I could… so to hear one of my songs sung in 34 different languages is an incredible experience.
When people find out I wrote “DuckTales,” I often get to hear about their happy childhood memories of the song. Now, after the reboot of the show, parents not only share their own stories, they also tell me about the joy their kids are getting from the song today. It’s really gratifying.
Something else I enjoy doing is checking out the newest YouTube performances of the "DuckTales" song done by fans. There are quite a few versions online… more than 250,000 per the site. As a writer, there is no greater compliment than to have that many people cover your work. I truly appreciate everyone's fondness for the song (and the show) as well as their creativity.
Along with pop songs and TV themes, I've also written several original musicals for stage ("Butterfly" at the Goodspeed Opera House), film and TV (an all-sung musical titled "Shangri-La Plaza" for CBS).
I'm currently working on a new stage musical with my good friend, actress Lesley Nicol. She starred as the memorable Mrs. Patmore on the international hit TV show "Downton Abbey" for six years... as well as the 2019 worldwide #1 box office hit, the "Downton Abbey" movie. We've already performed our show live in London and Hong Kong and it's been a blast. We look forward to doing more shows as soon as theaters open again.
I live in LA and love Southern California, but grew up a few hundred miles to the north in the Bay Area. (In the pic above, I'm taking a ferry ride from Tiburon to San Francisco). I wrote my first musical there at the age of 10 for my fifth grade class to perform… that production actually made the local newspaper... so I guess you could say music has always been in my blood.
Creating music professionally for a few decades has been a fantastic experience. I do what I love and love what I do... and am happy to say I'm working on what I think might be my best stuff to date.
